In Zion the only constant thing is change. Plants and animals have adapted to this harsh oasis environment over millions of years but our impact has changed the area in a myriad of ways in the last century alone. No longer will you find bear, cougars or other apex predators here, nor will you see the vast carpet of giant trees that were felled for local buildings or sold for profit. Today there are few things untouched by humans in the canyon, but that can be a positive thing when you visit. Pack out any trash you see, stay on marked trails and practice Leave No Trace.
Zion has between 3 - 7 million visitors each year, imagine if every person picked a flower, left a piece of trash or flew their drone with no permit. No doubt, the wildlife and plants in this area would suffer tremendously. While here, please think of them first, stay on marked paths, leave no trace, and give them space. This is their only home, we are their guests, so let's be respectful...
Not sure what 'Leave No Trace' means?
Give animals space, ever feed them, and keep food/trash secure...
Going off trails might seem like no big deal, but for soil, it means the world.
We know they're cute, but feeding the animals is not allowed in National Parks. It's really not a good idea anywhere you go. Animals that get used to having humans as their food source are at risk of becoming aggressive or even starving to death. Please don't feed the wildlife.
